Johnson makes Ryder Cup squad

Dustin Johnson is having a perfect time! He has been given the wildcard to enter the US Ryder Cup Team by Davis Love, the skipper. Johnson, who made his Ryder Cup debut in 2010 at Wales, finished among the top four in both of the opening FedEx Cup events and he also registered a victory in June. Having seen this kind of performances no skipper would like to leave this player behind. Love is no exception.

Davis Love announced the names of the four wildcard picks for his team. That includes Jm Furyk, Steve Stricker, Brand Snedeker and Dustin Johnson. They will be joined by the automatically chosen eight players which consists names like Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Webb Simpson etc.

Johnson’s most recent performance was so good that Love wouldn’t have a choice. Two weeks before he was placed at the third spot at the Barclays and then at the Deutsche Bank Championship this week, he ranked fourth. He is the highest rank holder among the Americans who participated in the Deutsche Bank Championship. Johnson registered victory against his name at the St. Jude Classic and then he suffered from a back injury. He came back to the golf course after three months and was placed 9th at the British Open.

When giving an interview Johnson said that he is contended with his effort because every time he went on to play a game this year, he has given his best. As the Ryder Cup is going to take place in a long and vast Medinah, hitters like Dustin Johnson can become an asset of his team. He is one of the best longest hitters and if he can utilize this quality at Medinah, he would be unstoppable.

Love is also quite satisfied to have Johnson in his team. Love said that he has been a fan of Johnson’s putting this year. Although Johnson’s performances in the previous international matches were not that good, but looking at the current form and his ability to hit it longer, Love has, perhaps, made the correct decision.
